17.6.2009 Recruiting top staff – may have a look “inside” first

The current economic situation raises new questions about who is the better manager, asks the German Deggendorf Institute of Management & Technology (dimt).

Is it the tradition-conscious firm owner or the employed business manager? Many employees demand more responsibility from their head but at the same time are also ready to take over more responsibility themselves if they are allowed to do so.

This point seems to be the problematic one so that almost two thirds of the Germans are fulfilling work-to-rule, reports the dimt. Companies that give more scope for development, however, make positive experiences. It sometimes activates new ideas and initiatives in a company's department. So why not recruit executives internally rather than from outside?
